Welcome to the East Bay Postpartum Doula Circle

Picture

We are an association of Doulas who focus on the practical needs of mothers, babies, and families immediately after birth through approximately one year.  We have been meeting monthly since 2001 for inspiration, support, peer consulting, and continuing education.

As independent care providers who are hired directly by parents, our passion is to provide the most current, evidence-based postpartum care available.  Coming from a rich variety of backgrounds and experiences, each Doula offers a different combination of services, including breastfeeding education and support, newborn care practices, mothers' nutritional needs, and postpartum recovery plans.  We are available either days or nights for families with newborn singletons, twins, and triplets.

Mutual respect and appreciation for our community combined with concern for the well being of the families we serve characterizes our commitment.  It is our intention to offer a high level of integrity and excellence.  In order to maintain an ethical and responsible standard, we stay connected to one another in an on-line information group as well as face-to-face in our monthly meetings where we share articles on the latest research, techniques, guidelines, and practices.  We also periodically invite speakers to address our group, and individually we attend workshops on lactation, massage, infant sleep, infant psychology, postpartum depression, and other related topics.

If you are a Postpartum Doula, and would like to attend our monthly meeting which meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, please contact:  Martina Smolova

Each Doula practices independently within her own contract description, maintains independent references and certifications, and pays her own taxes.  Many of us also offer additional complementary talents and certifications.  Among our group you will find: Certified Massage Therapists (CMT), Craniosacral practitioners, Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) and Educators, Birth Doulas, Reiki Practitioners, and Infant and Newborn Massage Educators.

We invite you to call, interview, and explore the potential to match your needs as you discover the specific offerings of the doulas in our group.  We are confident you will connect with the perfect support for your family's postpartum period.

We look forward to hearing from you!
